I want to address an important issue regarding patient care and maintaining professional boundaries, particularly concerning providing care to friends and family outside our clinic
setting. Providing care to friends and family is a privilege. While offering dental assistance or evaluations to people we know may be tempting, it is crucial to remember that until someone officially becomes a patient or is currently a patient of our college’s
clinic, offering care outside the established professional framework is inappropriate and unethical.
As oral health professionals in training, we must uphold the highest standards of practice in the clinic and in our personal lives.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
