Hello,

I am forwarding you the invitation from Lisa Mendez, Collaborative Health Care Practice Lead with the Office of Interprofessional Collaboration. This invite is a wonderful opportunity. The invite was sent to Dent 2, 3, and 4 and DH 3 in the Spring 2026. I am bringing it to the top of your email, plus including Dent 1 and DH 2.

Still, my apologies for forwarding you the invitation from Lisa at this time. I missed it in my email. Please connect with Lisa at Lisa.Mendez@umanitoba.ca if you have any questions. Importantly, you must not miss class, lab, seminars, or clinics scheduled in your respective programs.

Please read the email below:

From Lisa:

Applications are now open for the men's gathering for students who identify as men.

It's Sept 30-October 4th; priority will be given to those who can leave by noon on October 2nd (however, leaving later can be accommodated). I'm just trying to balance knowing you have classes with wanting you to have enough time to get into the experience.

Travel, food costs, and a contribution to the camp on our behalf will be covered by the RBC Experiential Learning Travel Fund.

If interested, please fill in this form (If you have already been to community with me, just fill in your name and date/time you can travel). Carpooling will be encouraged.

Ndinawemaaganag (All my relations) Summer 2026 – Fill out form

Expect to experience some healing ceremonies (sweat lodges, reiki, cedar baths), participate in some fun activities (bow & arrow and moose call competitions), and to learn about health and healing from elders, knowledge keepers and community members.

Learners will stay in a rustic cabin (you'll take your own bedding). Food is provided—I anticipate lots of good food like local pickerel, stews, Bannock etc.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions: lisa.mendez@umanitoba.ca or 204-583-8841 (cell).

Sincerely,

I acknowledge that the University of Manitoba campuses are located on original lands of Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anisininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Dene and Inuit, and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis . I respect the treaties made on these territories. I acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past and present. With a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration, I move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities. In all my actions, I am grounded in salutogenesis, and aim to contribute to health creation within places and settings where people live, learn, play, work, and love.
