The McCall MacBain Scholarship was established in 2019 with a $200 million donation made by John and Marcy McCall MacBain—the single largest gift in Canadian history at the time. This leadership-driven
scholarship awards candidates who demonstrate character, community engagement, leadership potential, entrepreneurial spirit, academic strength and intellectual curiosity.
Three University of Manitoba students were finalists for the first global cohort of McCall MacBain Scholars, including our
most recent recipient Clèche
Kokolo, who was awarded a full scholarship beginning in 2023.
The
McCall MacBain Scholarships are Canada’s first comprehensive, leadership-based scholarships for master’s and professional studies. This scholarship program brings together exceptional students who strive to engage in positive
change by taking on meaningful leadership roles.
The Fall 2024 cohort will include students from Canada
and around the world, after two years of Canadian-only admissions.
The scholarship covers:
-
Tuition and fees for
150+ eligible programs at McGill University
-
$2,000 per month in living expenses
-
Mentorship, advisors, and coaching
-
An intensive leadership development program
Up to 30 full scholarships and 80 entrance awards are available.
