Please apply for the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF)
through your home department each year (UM department/faculty of application), not Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies or the Awards office.
Please contact the UM
home department (of application) directly for their UMGF application
process and deadline.
*Note those applying for September 2026 (Fall 2026 intake) should contact the home department of application closer to January 2026, when the UMGF will be accepting applications.

We encourage students to apply for all sources of funding at every competition they are eligible for to assist with their graduate program, travel and living expenses.
The onus is on the applicant to seek out funding opportunities and verify on their end that they meet award eligibility including program requirements, minimum GPA and ensuring all documentation/material,
and references are submitted prior to the application deadline.
Current funding opportunities are emailed out every Wednesday to students by Grad Communications which are viewable online
by scrolling down to “Upcoming Award Deadlines” section near the bottom of this webpage:
