CFJS is going on a social justice
mission to New York City!
This exciting trip takes place over the Thanksgiving long weekend,
October 7-11, 2010.
Experience and participate in a variety of hands-on social justice
projects with fellow Canadian Students in NYC! Participants will have
opportunities to get a broader understanding of urban social justice
issues and strengthen their abilities to advocate for equality.
The Social Justice projects will include:
1. Doing direct service in homeless shelters and food pantries. This
focuses participants on a direct encounter with the other.
2. A door-knocking campaign on the Lower East
Side which organizers residents around affordable
housing, issues of gentrification, housing planning, community
development, etc.
3. A day doing advocacy work on the Tav HaYosher which includes
training, going to restaurants.
