Le Centre de recherche et d’enseignement sur les droits de la personne (CREDP), le Programme Scholars at Risk (SAR) de l'Université d'Ottawa et la Section SAR Canada présentent deux webinaires sur le thème : Outils internationaux pour promouvoir la liberté académique. Ces activités sont organisées pour célébrer le 25^e anniversaire du réseau Scholars at Risk (SAR) et marquer un quart de siècle de construction d'un mouvement mondial. L'Université d'Ottawa a rejoint le réseau SAR en 2014 et a confié au CREDP la direction de ce programme au sein de notre université.

 

Normes des Nations Unies et normes mondiales en matière de liberté académique

 

Les Nations Unies et d'autres instances internationales reconnaissent la liberté académique comme un droit humain indépendant et interdépendant, essentiel aux sociétés démocratiques, au progrès scientifique et au bien public. Bien qu'elle soit protégée par le droit existant en matière de droits humains, cette liberté fait l'objet de menaces généralisées et croissantes à l'échelle mondiale.

The Human Rights Research and Education Centre (HRREC), the Scholars at Risk (SAR) uOttawa Program and the SAR Canada Section present two webinars on the theme: International tools to advance academic freedom. These activities are organized to celebrate the Scholars at Risk (SAR) Network’s 25^th anniversary and mark a quarter century of building a global movement. The University of Ottawa joined the SAR Network in 2014 and entrusted the HRREC to lead this program within our university.

 

UN & global standards on academic freedom

 

The UN and other international bodies recognize academic freedom as an independent and interdependent human right that is essential to democratic societies, scientific progress, and the public good. Although it is protected under existing human rights law, threats to this freedom are widespread and increasing globally.
