I hope that you are enjoying the warmer weather and perhaps looking forward to some summer vacation.

I’d like to highlight some of the staff training and development sessions happening in June. These opportunities are available exclusively to UManitoba employees.

Manager’s Forum: Advancing Reconciliation – June 8, noon to 1:00pm (online).  While designed for those with people leadership responsibilities, our Manager’s Forums are open to all employees who are interested in the topic.  In this session, we will explore what advancing reconciliation means to us and our units, and engage in small group discussion to share experiences, challenges and strategies on what we can all do to advance reconciliation. The session aims to support collective learning and strengthen our shared commitment to reconciliation.

Introduction to Human Resources – June 23, 9:00am to 4:00pm (in person). Knowledge of core human resources policies, systems and practices as they are performed at the University of Manitoba is essential for those university support and administrative staff who currently perform, or wish to learn about, HR practices at UM. During this session participants; are introduced to the full employee life cycle; will review resources, supports, policies and processes available to support their HR practices; explore topics including  accommodation, equity, diversity and inclusion;  and examine when to seek additional guidance in HR matters within their unit/ faculty/ department.

A Coach-approach to Management – June 25, 9:00am to 4:00pm (in person). Coaching is a powerful tool for enhancing employee wellbeing and performance, and an increasingly important managerial skill in the rapidly changing workplace. This workshop builds a foundational understanding of coaching principles and skills. Participants will discuss how and when to integrate coaching into their management role, and practice skills that will allow them to take a coach-approach in their role.

Microsoft 365:  I.S.T. Engagement Services provides several Microsoft 365 sessions covering topics related to Microsoft 365 such as Sharing Files, MS Forms, Utilizing Channels,  and more. Search for “M365” when you visit LODReg to see available options.  **These sessions run throughout July & August.
