Hi everyone,

 

I just wanted to pass on some information about the upcoming 2025 BSc Med and One Summer research projects.

 

All abstracts have been uploaded to the BSc Med website, and it is strongly encouraged that students interested in participating in the summer research program to review the abstracts and contact the project supervisors at their earliest convenience, as project availability may be limited.


Key Components of the program:

·        Two summer terms (each term between 12 – 13 weeks long with 2 weeks’ vacation included)

·        Students review posted (web) abstracts from prospective supervisors or may choose to find a project/supervisor on their own

·        B.Sc. Med and One Summer Medical Student Research programs must be submitted via Survey Monkey by December 1, 2024 @ 12 noon. Corresponding Documents can be sent to advanceddegreesmedicine@umanitoba.ca

·        Students enrolled in BSc(Med) and the One Summer Medical Student Research Program are subjected to pay fees at the SPRING 2025 Fee payment deadline set by the Registrar’s office please find the details: https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/tuition-fees late payments at subjected to a $50 late fee.

·        Term dates align with the summer schedules for Medical Students in their 1st and 2nd year. 

·        $7,500 stipend over each summer term (2-week vacation period included). Vacation notice must be sent to the supervisor and program office in advance.

·        Travel awards, prizes, and scholarships available for top BSc (Med) students and top BSc (Med) projects addressing certain research topics/focus

·         B.Sc. Med recognition on University of Manitoba transcript 

·        Ability to present research during the annual Undergraduate Medical Student Research Symposium 

·        Appears on your MSPR (Medical Student Performance Record)

·        B.Sc. Med degree granted upon graduation from Medical School 


Additional Features:

·        May be combined for credit with the Early Exposure program when:

o   Registered through the Early Exposure program (UGME) in addition to the B.Sc. Med program (No additional fees required. Student pays B.Sc. Med fees only.)
