Whether you’re getting started in your career of medical education or an experienced practitioner wanting to expand your med ed knowledge, join us for interactive discussions on a variety of topics related to teaching and learning in clinical settings.

Assessment in the Moment
Work-based assessment practices in the clinical environment can direct further learning and foster growth. Using a coaching lens, this workshop will provide a framework for ‘in the moment’ formative assessment with targeted questions to support clinical learning. 

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Apply RIME framework to learner assessment, 
• Craft effective questions to promote growth,
• Solve an existing clinical teaching problem with questioning.

Equity, Access, and Participation: I Didn’t Know What to Say: Addressing Microaggressions in the Classroom
Addressing micro-aggressions in classroom or tutorial settings is crucial for promoting inclusivity and improving patient outcomes. In this session, we will explore effective strategies and language for teachers to address micro-aggressions. By using the micro-aggressions triangle model, participants will learn how to handle such incidents in real-time.

Learning Objectives:  
By the end of the session, the participant will be able to: 

• Recognize instances of racism, discrimination and micro-aggressions occurring in our educational spaces.
• Identify and share concepts associated with racism, discrimination and micro-aggressions so that we can speak a common language. 
• Practice communication tools and share ways to respond.

Preparing Your Teaching Dossier
Teaching dossiers are a critical component of your academic dossier.  Required for promotion and tenure, they are a record of your philosophy of teaching, how it is enacted through your teaching practice, as well as a record of your teaching activities. By attending this session, you will be able to:

• Create a personal teaching dossier,
• List possible uses for a teaching dossier in your academic career, and,
• Discuss how creating a teaching dossier can be used to improve teaching.
