Comparing Notes: Musician-Physicians on Listening and Performance in Clinical Practice
Health care providers “perform" in a range of roles for their patients and the general public. In a world full of noise, how do we listen and communicate with imagination, curiosity, and a collaborative approach in the clinical realm.

In this session, two physicians who are advanced classical musicians discuss techniques for appreciating nuance in the patient perspective, enhancing the doctor-patient relationship, and improving satisfaction for both. Attendees will be invited to engage and reflect on their own professional practice.

Facilitators:
Erika Donald, BMus, MMus, MD, CCFP(EM), Lecturer, Dept. of Emergency Medicine
Alex Dyck, BMus, MD, FRCPC, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry
Charlene Diehl, PhD, Creative Director, Alan Klass Program in Health Humanities
