Hello everyone,
We have been contacted by the West Broadway Youth Outreach, who are looking for a neuroscientist to participate in their Dreams Mentorship program. WBYO is a wonderful organization that provides academic and social support to children in the West Broadway
neighbourhood. Many of these children are recent immigrants, and others come from disadvantaged backgrounds. There is a strong emphasis on academic achievement in all of their programs, and the students are rewarded for their achievements with opportunities
such as the Dreams Mentorship program. Here is their website:

The Dreams Mentorship program gives students the opportunity to meet someone who is working in the student's "dream" job, which shows the child that their goals are attainable. They have a 10-year old boy who wants to become a neuroscientist, and I am hoping
that one of you will step forward to serve as a mentor. Here are the critical details that you need to know:
- This child is
NOT going to be working your lab.
- This is a
one-time meeting. There is
NO long-term commitment or project involved.
- The meeting lasts about 2 hours and can be scheduled at a time that is convenient for you (it can be over lunch, dinner, etc).
This is a very small gesture that could have an enormous impact on a child's future. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
