Topic: An Introduction to the Small Animal and Materials Imaging Core Facility
BIO: Dr. Mike Jackson obtained his BSc in Physiology from the University of Manchester, his MSc in Instrumentation and Analytical Science from the University of Manchester Institute for Science and Technology and his PhD from the Department of Protein and Molecular Biology, Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, University of London. After completing his PhD Mike Joined the National Research Council Canada in Ottawa, applying physical techniques to the structure and interaction of biological materials. Mike was one of the initial 15 scientist transfer from Ottawa to Winnipeg to establish the NRC Institute for Biodiagnostics where he began working on novel disease diagnosis techniques, including developing optical imaging methods for cancer diagnosis and imaging techniques to study the link between infection and chronic disease. After almost 18 years at the NRC Mike left to pursue other opportunities, leading to his current position as Program Coordinator for the University of Manitoba’s Small Animal and Materials Imaging Core Facility.
