Dr. Larry M. Jordan
March 18, 1944 – December 5, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on December 5, 2021 of our long-time colleague and friend Dr. Larry M. Jordan (PhD, 1971 Texas, USA). Larry had a long and illustrious career in the Department of Physiology & Pathophysiology since 1972. He became a full-Professor in 1985 and served as the Physiology and Pathophysiology Department Head from 1992-2001. Larry was a pioneer in neurophysiology with an international reputation of accomplishments. He established systems physiology and neuroscience at the University of Manitoba and can be credited with developing a focus on locomotion and spinal cord injury research here in Manitoba, culminating in the creation of the Spinal Cord Research Centre (SCRC) (co-Director 1987-1995 and Director 1996-2003), which has evolved and continues his legacy to this day. We at the SCRC will all miss Larry and his energy, wit, and wisdom.
Dr. Jordan’s memorial service will be held via a webinar on Saturday, December 18 at 3pm CST.
