Hello College of Nursing,
On behalf of the University of Manitoba Students’ Union (UMSU), I would like to extend an invitation to you to be a part of our Annual UMSU Holiday Hamper Program.
As you know, students are struggling more than ever with the rising cost of inflation and living. The Holiday Hamper Program helps combat food insecurity by providing grocery gift cards
to students facing financial hardship, allowing them to choose the food and essentials they need most.
Attached you will find our support letter detailing the Holiday Hampers Program for this year and how you can get involved in this amazing initiative. To keep this program running annually,
we rely on the fundraising efforts of our generous student associations, clubs, and corporate and community partners, these funds go towards purchasing gift cards to give the students this holiday season.
How Your Donation Helps:
Ways to Donate:
I am reaching out with hopes that the College of Nursing would be able to contribute to the Holiday Hampers Program, and we would also greatly appreciate if this email could be circulated
within the faculty, in the hopes that individuals might wish to contribute. Individual donations are also more than welcomed and make a meaningful difference.
We have seen this program greatly benefit students and their families in times of need and would be honoured to have you partner with us to achieve this goal. With your help, we hope to
continue to provide our members with compassionate care and support throughout the holiday season. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or contact us at

The University of Manitoba campuses and the UMSU offices are located on the original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples,
and on the homeland of the Métis Nation, and on the original lands of the Inuit. We want to acknowledge our part in the systemic oppression and colonization of the lands of these peoples, the harms that colonization has had on these lands, and the dangers
of forgetting our part in colonization. We acknowledge that our water comes from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, and our hydro from the hydro dams located in Treaty 5. UMSU would not be here without the Indigenous peoples who kept our lands safe and cared for.
We dedicate ourselves to working harder every day to strengthen the relationship between ourselves and Indigenous communities. We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and those still occurring, and vow to move forward in partnership with indigenous
leaders and communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
