What’s Growing On in Plant Science?

April 28, 2023; Volume 26

          Thank you and Farewell

Ishan Samaranayake has been part of the soybean and pulse agronomy team for 5 years and is now moving on to a new opportunity with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Ishan has been an integral part of the team, taking a lead on protocol and data management. Some highlights of Ishan’s technician role include learning more about field crop agronomy, travelling to Carman and Arborg field sites, and collecting pea aphid data in our intercropping experiments.

Ishan has also recently contributed to the Climate Action Committee and reviewed the University of Manitoba Urban Forest Management Strategy as an external reviewer.  He studied wildlife on our campus from 2013 to 2021 and presented at the 2022 UM Sustainability Day. You can find his presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3RKgF_kjjo.

Ishan’s last day with the department will be May 12. Thank you, Ishan, for your contributions and good luck in your new position!
