  • The Open Science Framework (OSF) is a free, online platform to manage your research project throughout all stages of the research lifecycle. OSF can be used to document, archive, share project documentation and data, register research plans and protocols, and publish your work as a preprint. This workshop will cover three aspects of OSF: getting started and creating an account, OSF Projects, and OSF Registries and Preprints. Come set up and manage your research projects by using OSF!

In this session, participants will:

    • Understand the purpose of the Open Science Framework
    • Create an Open Science Framework project
    • Publish a research plan or protocol and preprint on the Open Science Framework

Power, Profit, & Privilege: Navigating Academic Publishing
Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 12:00-1:00pm (online)
Register: https://umanitoba.zoom.us/meeting/register/u5Ekdu2przsrHt3ICbL5FFISAxdEiFJJPZxz

  • This session explores the power, profit, and privilege dynamics in academic publishing. Heavily influenced by Amanda Makula's "Power, Profit, & Privilege: Problematizing Scholarly Publishing," this session summarizes the scholarly publishing process and helps you to make informed, intentional decisions on where and how to publish your work. Together, we will create a publishing plan to find the best way to publish your work and a promotion plan to share your work after it has been published.

In this session, participants will:

    • Summarize the scholarly publishing process
    • Examine and recognize power, profit, and privilege dynamics in the publishing industry
    • Create publishing and promotion plans to find the best place to publish and the best way to share your work

Thanks,

Sarah
