Subject: [Gs-suppstaff-contacts] "Copyright" day and evening session for graduate students
The following email is sent on behalf of Juliette Nadeau, Copyright Officer for the University of Manitoba
The Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Copyright Office encourage you to attend an information session about copyright.
Did you know that in many cases, incorporating copyrighted content into a thesis requires permission from the copyright holder? For example, including a complete
copyrighted work such as a photograph, map, diagram or figure, or a substantial amount of text, requires permission to do so. Adapting a work requires permission as well. Permission is needed whether the copyrighted material came from the web, a book, a journal
or a government source. Attend an information session to find out what you need to know about copyright while preparing your thesis - when permission is needed, how to get permission, how to find free resources, the pertinent details of the Copyright
Act, and more. Registration is not required.
Who would benefit from attending a session?
