Subject: Point facility cleanup effort

Hi all,

As you are all aware, the Point facilities are experiencing a serious rodent problem that needs to be addressed.  Now that the weather is a bit cooler and rodents are looking for a warm place, it is pertinent to ensure that we are not inviting them into the facilities with food or bedding.

The Drying, Processing, and Seed Storage coordination subgroup is organizing a major cleanup of the Drying bed room, Oven room, Clipper room, Pre-Processing area, and the Processing room on Nov 5th and Nov 6th.  The subgroup is seeking volunteers to help with this important task.  If you can make it on either of those days, even for just a partial day, please contact: Mike Erb, Michelle Carkner, Zesong Ye, or Becky Dueck.

In the meantime, large volumes of samples and cleanings that remain in non-rodent-secure containers (bags and the likes) need to be removed from the facility by their owners ASAP to facilitate with the planned cleanup.  Any group with such items is strongly encouraged to remove these items by the middle of this week.  On Friday Nov. 1, groups and PIs will be contacted directly requesting immediate removal of any remaining material.

Thank you all for your co-operation and assistance to help ensure the Point building facilities remain a safe place to work.  A more pest control strategy is in the works.

Regards,

Rob Gulden
