Job
Purpose
To
join the IRRI team as part of an international consortium of scientists
aiming to elucidate the physiological and molecular mechanisms and integrate the
knowledge of dehydration avoidance traits
for enhancing drought resistance in rice
To
contribute to the research activities of the Generation Challenge
Program-funded projects on drought resistance improvement in rice, with
a focus on molecular physiology of dehydration avoidance traits
Responsibilities
Contribute
to the physiological and molecular characterization of dehydration
avoidance and root traits, through the use of rice germplasm, advanced
breeding materials and specialized genetic
stocks
Combine
quantitative
genetics and precise drought phenotyping approaches for
association mapping studies
Harness
functional genomics tools for the discovery of genes related to drought
resistance physiological mechanisms, and gene expression analysiswriting scientific
reports, manuscripts for
publication and contributing to the dissemination of research results
Collaborate
with drought research team at IRRI and international and NARES partners
Requirements
Minimum
PhD
in crop molecular physiology, biotechnology or related fields
Practical
experience in molecular
biology and functional genomics techniques
English:
written and spoken; Knowledge of local language an asset
Preferred
Working
(postdoctoral) experience in molecular biology of drought or abiotic
stresses
Strong
organizational and communication
skills and a good publication record
Proven
ability to perform in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
