Details: "Understanding insects, bacteria and protists to achieve a sustainable agriculture."

Since 2020, Dr. Edel Pérez López's labhttps://edelabcriv.com/ has been focusing on understanding emergent plant pathogens. One of his recent achievements, the identification and characterization of effector proteins used by the clubroot pathogen during infection, holds the potential to bring significant advancements to the canola industry.

His lab is also exploring the effects of climate change on insect pest distributions and the consequences of biological invasions by these pests.

In this seminar, Dr. Pérez López will provide an overview of his scientific contributions and his passionate advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community in plant and microbiology sciences. He will also discuss his collaboration with various scientific societies to promote more sustainable and inclusive agricultural practices.

Following Dr. Pérez López's seminar, join us in the SSA Lounge (209 Armes) for a coffee and conversations panel talk titled "Breaking barriers: 2SLGBTQIA+ representation and inclusion in science."
