Dr. Annemieke Farenhorst, Dean

Dr. Annemieke Farenhorst has been appointed Dean of the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources for the term September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2031.



BioBlitz Week
An exciting, campus-wide initiative to explore and document the biodiversity found in and around the university. Throughout the week, students, faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to photograph and record wild plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms spotted on campus using the free app or University of Manitoba – BioBlitz Week! · iNaturalist Canada.

Graduate Student Funding
The Indigenous CREATE program provides training and mentorship opportunities for Indigenous students who want to better underdstand ongoing changes in the environment and enhance their research skills.

UM Behind the Hire: Work-Study Program
Virtual info session to learn how the Work Study Program connects students with paid, part time employment opportunities on campus. Students from all faculties and programs are encouraged to attend.

Ready to Roam
An early arrival experience that gives future UM students the opportunity to explore campus, get familiar with the physical space, learn about campus resources, and begin building connections ahead of the fall. Term. Programming includes mini-lectures, and academic skill building sessions, campus tours, and an info fair.

Leslie Goodman was recognized at the 2026 Students’ Teacher Recognition Reception (STRR) as the instructor of choice of graduating student Joyce Ji (Environmental Science Honours Co-op).

Dr. Johny Stephen has been approved for promotion to Instructor II.

Dr. Ricardo Silva received the 2025 Merit Award.

Dr. Stephane McLachlan and Dr. Sadia Ishaq were named 2025 Community Engagement Fund awardees.

Dr. Nicole Wilson and Dr. Eric Collins were approved for tenure and promotion to Associate Professors.
