University Research Grants Program (URGP) offers funding up to $15,000 to new faculty. New Faculty are defined as full-time academic faculty members who are within five years of the date of their first full-time appointment. UM/SSHRC Exchange Grants Program supports researchers to participate in international conferences of major scholarly significance. Open to researchers in SSHRC-supported disciplines. Funding up to $750 (within Canada), $1000 (USA), and $1500 (International)

UM/SSHRC Explore Grants Program supports small-scale research projects in the social sciences and humanities. Open to researchers in SSHRC-supported activities. Funding up to $10,000. This funding will be available to award approximately 4 UM/SSHRC Explore Applications during this Fall 2025 Competition.

Research Connections offers a maximum of $7,500, with an additional $2,500 available for events taking place in the Northern Manitoba region*. Research Manitoba funding must make up no more than 50% of the total event budget.

The France Canada Research Fund (FFCR) provides research training for researchers at the master’s and doctorate levels. Laureates are awarded start-up grants of $8,000 to $15,000 CAD to fund research and student mobility between the two countries.
