Full time summer position.

Manitoba Canola Growers are seeking a motivated, self-starter, creative, organized student with excellent verbal, written and computer skills. The person must be friendly, outgoing, and approachable. They must have the ability to work independently with a team environment. They must have access to a vehicle and be willing to travel to Kelburn Farm to run Canola Learning Centre (CLC) tours. The CLC invites over 1,500 school and daycare children out to Kelburn Farm to learn about agriculture each summer. The individual must be able to work with children.

Canola Learning Centre Coordinator
Manitoba Canola Growers Association
May 1, 2017 – September 1, 2017

General Accountability

This is a summer contract position with the Manitoba Canola Growers and is for 37.5 hours per week. The contract will be issued from May 1, 2017 to September 1, 2017. This position is responsible for promoting the Canola Learning Centre program, updating the email database, running school and daycare tours, delivering educational workshops and additional duties as assigned.

This position reports directly to the Events and Communications Coordinator of the Manitoba Canola Growers Association.

Specific Accountabilities
Overview of duties:

  • Promote the CLC
  • Run school and daycare tours at the CLC
  • Support and deliver programming for the CLC in satellite centres
  • Deliver educational workshops
  • Assist in organization of events
  • Update email database
  • Develop and package activities, resources and materials
  • Complete a year end report
  • Work booth shifts at events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A combination of education/experience in a relevant field (e.g. education, creative communications, agriculture, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Experience with interviewing and reporting
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and proven attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Adaptable and resourceful
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Knowledge of canola oil and farming is an asset
  • The Manitoba Canola Growers is a member organization committed to maximizing net income for canola farmers through sustainable production.
