MZTRA Soil Conservation Fellowship 2019-2020
To be eligible for consideration for this fellowship, you must: be enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in a research-based program delivered by the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences; has achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on the previous 60 credit hours of study; conducting research in western Manitoba in collaboration with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) Brandon Research Centre, or with any other suitable individual producer, private research, government or industry group in the region; conducting a research project examining one of the following topics:(i) the benefits of reduced tillage practices and crop rotations (including but not limited to yield, disease and pest management, nutrient use and losses, soil organic matter, soil moisture, biological diversity), (ii) practices to improve soil health, agroecosystem resiliency, and adaptation to climate change, (iii) reduced farm energy use (fuel, fertilizer, pesticides), (iv) benefits of perennials, cover crops/relay crops in rotation in relation to any of the above,
(v) pulse agronomy in relation to any of the above.
JAMES GORDON FLETCHER GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP IN AGRICULTURAL AND FOOD SCIENCES 2019-2020 To be eligible for consideration for this fellowship, you should be: (1) entering the Masters of Science program) in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and enrolled full-time in the program; (2) have an outstanding record of undergraduate academic achievement (minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 over the last 60 credit hours); (3) demonstrate an interest in and potential for research.
JOHN DUECK GRADUATE ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP 2019-2020 To be eligible for consideration for this fellowship, you should be (1) enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, in either an M.Sc. or a Ph.D. program delivered by the Department of Entomology, Plant Science, or Soil Science; (2) have achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.0 (or equivalent) based on the last 60 credit hours of study; (3) have proposed to conduct thesis research related to crops, pests, or soils; (4) have demonstrated a high level of research potential.
SYNGENTA GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP 2019-2020 To be eligible for consideration for this fellowship, you must: (a) be enrolled as a full-time student in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Manitoba in a Master’s program in Agricultural and Food Sciences; (b) have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 in the most recent two years of full-time study in an undergraduate and/or graduate program; (c) be conducting research in sustainable agriculture in the following areas: environmental quality and resources management, integrated pest management, introduction of new technologies, economic viability and rural community sustainability.
WESTERN GRAINS RESEARCH FOUNDATION ENDOWMENT FUND GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP 2019-2020
To be eligible for consideration for this fellowship, you must: (a) be enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, in a Master’s or Doctoral program delivered by the Department of Plant Science or the Department of Soil Science; (b) have achieved a minimum Degree GPA of 3.5 or equivalent based on the last 60CH of study; (c) have proposed to undertake thesis research in the area of crop research (major filed crops including grains and oilseeds).
STEWART PUGH EXTERNAL STUDY SCHOLARSHIPS 2018-2019 You are eligible to apply for this scholarship if you are enrolled full-time (minimum 24 credit hours) in the third or fourth year of study in a degree program, second year of study in the diploma program, or have completed one year of an MSc program or PhD program in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba; and (2) have achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.0. This scholarship is intended to cover transportations costs only (up to $2,000.00); however, the Committee still requires an estimate of all the transportations cost associated with your external study.
