this book talk, Pachamama Politics, Teresa Velásquez discusses
her research among a group of Ecuadorian farmers organized to defend community watersheds from a proposed Canadian gold mine project. Her work exposes the rifts over government plans to pursue extraction in the name of Sumak Kawsay (to live well), and how
farmers transformed their relationship to Indigeneity in unexpected ways. This book lecture is also supported by the Department of Anthropology and CERG (Critical Environments Research Group). Please see the attached poster for more details.

U of Manitoba professors Diane Driedger, Christine Stewart and Niigaan Sinclair will explain the nitty-gritty
processes of how they accomplish their tasks as writers of different genres, for example op-eds, creative nonfiction, and poetry. How do they discover ideas? How do they conduct research? How does revision and editing occur? How do they share and/or publish
their work? There will be ample time for the audience to ask questions as well as for writing tips, strategies, and techniques to be shared.
