Objects, and especially original antique objects, can be very powerful tools in academic teaching. This lecture will offer a discussion of how they can be used in a lecture or seminar context, and why they have the power to fascinate and motivate. One focus of this lecture will be the special appeal of small, portable objects that were once embedded in social practices.
