On Climate Justice and Just Transitions

Dr. Julie Sze (University of California, Davis)

Dr. Julie Sze is professor of American Studies and founding Director of the Environmental Justice Project, focused on climate justice. Poetics and Politics of Extraction Reading Group

Please join UMIH Research Affiliates Melanie Dennis Unrau and Amal Majumder for the first session of the UMIH Poetics and Politics of Extraction Reading Group on Wednesday, November 16 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. in 409 Tier. This event will be in-person only.

We will discuss Macarena Gómez-Barris’s The Extractive Zone: Social Ecologies and Decolonial Perspectives, which is available as an e-book through the University of Manitoba library. Feel free to attend having read any portion of the book (for example, the introduction is a pretty manageable 16 pages).
