The department of Political Studies is excited to announce the 2023 J.W. Dafoe Political Studies Students’ Conference entitled The Hot Artic. Free and open to the public, this annual conference features distinguished Canadian and international speakers exploring issues in international affairs and their implications for Canada. The first lecture is the Paul Buteux Memorial Lecture delivered by Madeleine Redfern, Inuk activist, on Feb 1st from 6 - 8:00 PM CT. There are also three panels running from 10 AM - 4 PM focused on unpacking issues in the Artic on Feb 2nd at the Great Hall (Canadian Museum for Human Rights). The Centre for Professional and Applied Ethics Graduate Fellowship 23-24

The Ethics Graduate Fellowship is open to all University of Manitoba graduate students, at any stage of their program. Applications from students in all fields are encouraged. The aim of the fellowship is to support graduate students who do research in the field of ethics, or to encourage students in other fields to consider the ethical implications of their work, to integrate ethics into their research, and to promote understanding of ethics as it relates to their areas of study. Two fellowships worth $3000 will be awarded to two successful applicants. Qualification and publication records and the significance of applicant's research will be considered. Please submit a curriculum vitae and a 500-word research proposal to the address above.
