February 12th is the national Day of Action for Contract Academics. According to CAUT, about 1 out of every 2 undergraduate students is taught by contract academics and, on average, contract academics are paid 1/3 less per course than regular professors. The UMIH was incredibly lucky to host a visit by Dr. Sarika Bose,
chair of CAUT's Contract Academic Staff Committee, earlier
this term to share with us her insightful research
and action plans. Please consider
participating in this important day by sharing information with your students and colleagues, signing the petition and contacting your MP, and participating in the #makeitfair campaign on social media.
