Dear WISDOM Members,

We are the coordinators of Women in Science; Development, Outreach, and Mentorship (WISDOM). Since 2023, WISDOM has hosted the Longitudinal Mentorship Program (LMP) to support women trainees in the Rady Faculty of Health Science (RFHS) and it has been a resounding success. We recruited >20 mentors and >80 mentees that were matched into groups with 2 mentors and 4-6 mentees. This group mentorship structure allows for a “team” environment, which enhances communication skills, collaboration, and knowledge exchange opportunities in a larger network. 

We are now recruiting for WISDOM’s 2026 LMP and we wanted to personally invite you to participate in our program! Mentors fill out a short survey and provide a bio for mentees to review and select their preferred mentor. The mentorship program coordinators form mentorship groups based on similar goals and mentee preferences. Once matched, there will be a kick-off introduction event (May 28) hosted by WISDOM to connect the groups in-person. The program will run until January 2027, with a midway event in October and a wrap up event in January to culminate the program. It is expected that mentees work to organize events with mentors in addition to the planned events.  

The Mentor responsibilities include: 

1. Initiate and foster continuous group communication throughout the program 

2. Organize in-person group gatherings (1 per term), responsibility should be split evenly between the two faculty members 

3. Encourage group attendance of 1 WISDOM event per term 

4. Encourage 1-on-1 discussion and mentorship with mentees
