Thank you to all who have begun exploring funding options for the Catherine O'Brien talk on Delightful Places and Sustainable Happiness.
We are excited to say that Health in Common (http://www.healthincommon.ca/) has agreed to partner with us (RCM) on this, so we are good to go!
The details are still being confirmed, but mark down Tuesday, February 11th between 7 and 9 pm (not sure if it will be whole time, or a portion there-of) for this inspiring and heart-warming evening.

Dr. Catherine O'Brien, Canada's leading expert on planning for sustainable happiness, will be in Winnipeg for a consultation in early February (10th, 11th or 12th - we still have to work out the specific details). She has agreed to speak to members of Winnipeg's AT Network for a reduced rate of $500 (down from $1500, as she will already be in town), and we are currently looking for partners to help share the cost of her speaking fee.
She is a Research Associate of the Centre for Sustainable Transportation, and she is the co-author of "Child and Youth Friendly Land Use and Transport Planning Guidelines" for Canadian Provinces and Territories. In addition, Dr. O'Brien has drawn from the fields of positive psychology and sustainability to develop a new concept: sustainable happiness. She defines this as the pursuit of happiness that is respectful of other people, the natural environment and future generations. Her work emphasizes the significance of creating communities that meet the needs and aspirations of children and planning for sustainable happiness (see attached studies).
