Subject: REMINDER: International Trainee Symposium in Agri-Food, Nutrition and Health - CCARM's Rapid Fire Research Symposium 2023 - FREE REGISTRATION!
Importance: High
Caution: This message was sent from outside the University of Manitoba.
On behalf of Dr. Thomas Netticadan, CCARM Team Leader, please forward to everyone in your departments,
Registration for the International Trainee Symposium in Agri-Food, Nutrition and Health - CCARM's Rapid Fire Research Symposium<https://meetccarm.ca/> is now open, AND IT'S FREE!
CCARM's 3rd Rapid Fire Symposium will occur January 19-20, 2023. 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM CST. The event will be held in the Samuel N. Cohen Auditorium<http://www.sbrc.ca/facilitiesandsupport/auditorium/> at the St. Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
This symposium comes at a time when there is a tremendous public interest in utilizing food to achieve health benefits, beyond just providing basic nutritional requirements. The need for new information in this area is high, and it is, therefore, our pleasure to provide scientific sessions that will highlight the progress in this field.
Another major component of this meeting is education. The promotion of trainees is critical to developing the next generation of investigators, and there is a strong need to develop greater capacity in this area. Furthermore, this symposium is an opportunity for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to showcase their research and achievements and provide them with the opportunity to network and engage in discussions with other researchers and trainees in their field.
Register here<https://meetccarm.ca/registration/> before December 15, 2022.
Abstracts to be submitted here<https://meetccarm.ca/abstract/> before November 15, 2022

The Point welcomes a new addition to the shop... a Power Jet hot water pressure washer!
It’s the same make and model as the system at Carman. This new equipment, courtesy of the WGRF field equipment research grant, will allow us to more easily follow our current biosecurity protocol, as well as the mantra to "arrive clean" at each work site. Please contact Mel Kaufman or a technician in your lab group for training on how to safely operate this equipment. Our thanks to Mel for getting this new unit up and running at the Point!

· Each year soil samples are taken to determine nutrient status of the soil and to make plans on nutrient management in future.
· There’s another aspect in soil sampling - bulk density, which is usually assessed to characterize the state of soil compactness in response to land use and soil management practices. That is part of what Sarah Wilcott (pictured) is trying to achieve.

Hi Emily,
Please forward the email to all plant urgently.
Hi everyone,
This email is again about the room 008B. I have taken out 95% of the stuff from cold room 008 B and put it in the hallway in the basement. There are following queries that can be helpful to make things more clean and organized:
1. In the attached pictures, I put a yellow label with ?.Please come to the basement to claim these specimens/cultures. Some of the boxes belongs to Dr. Li's lab. Please pick and label the items properly and store them in cold room at the end of greenhouse.
2. Please discard or autoclave the specimens that you think are no longer in use or cannot be used because they are pretty old/molded/contaminated etc.
Please try to finish this process by Thursday (Oct 27,2022) as it's not safe to keep these specimens for more than few days. Everything unclaimed will be thrown away/autoclaved on Friday (Oct 28,2022) . This is the best chance to sort the specimens before transferring to cold rooms.
I apologize for the short notice.
Please let me know if you have more suggestions/ideas.
Thank you so much :)
