Good Afternoon,
Four containers were installed on the Point last Friday. Please feel free to move your seed into these containers.
Based upon our seed plan for the Point a year ago, we had 8 research groups using seed storage space. Thus, each research group should have access to 1/2 of a container. Please organize your seed so there is a walkway down the center of the container, allowing access to the full length of the container. Please make sure all seed is in mouse-proof containers.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi
On Wednesday, May 17th work will begin on removing all the greenhouse blinds from the roofs of the greenhouses. A lift is being delivered some time on the 17th and work will begin as soon as possible. As they sequentially do the removal, no access will be allowed into the greenhouse they are working on, due to the risk of glass breaking. Hopefully the work will be completed in 2-3 days.

To all Deans and Directors:
I am writing regarding participation by staff as ushers at the Spring Convocation ceremonies as follows:
· Ceremony 1: Tuesday June 6th at 9:30 AM
· Ceremony 2: Tuesday June 6th at 3:00 PM
· Ceremony 3: Wednesday June 7th at 9:30 AM
· Ceremony 4: Wednesday June 7th at 3:00 PM
· Ceremony 5: Thursday June 8th at 9:30 AM
· Ceremony 6: Thursday June 8th at 3:00 PM
· Ceremony 7: Friday June 9th at 9:30 AM
It is important to the success of the event, and the comfort and security of those who attend, that we are staffed with an appropriate complement of ushers. A total of 25 ushers are needed for each ceremony held at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.
All academic units with graduating students are to contribute staff to serve as ushers at Convocation. The number of staff needed from each area has been determined in proportion to the graduates at each ceremony. Attached is a document with the number of staff needed from each area.
What does an usher do?
The responsibility of Convocation Ushers is to help provide a variety of services to the graduates and their guests, before, during and after each ceremony. Information on ushering duties can be found at: Convocation Ushers<https://umanitoba.sharepoint.com/sites/um-intranet-graduation-and-convocati…>. More detailed information will be distributed to ushers as the ceremony dates approach and at an on-site training session prior to each ceremony.
Who can be an usher?
All UM staff members are eligible to serve as ushers. Working as an usher is expected to be in place of normal duties.
What is the time commitment?
Shifts begin 90 minutes before each ceremony and the time commitment is approximately 4 - 5 hours for each ceremony. Arrangements may be made to accommodate staff who are not able to attend for the full shift length.
How do staff sign up?
Staff must complete and submit this online form<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=C92AT4wzTE6KFJBEaWL3uCU…> to sign up as an usher at convocation.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Hello,
Please be attentive that when using the autoclave on the 3rd floor to properly sealed it. This morning there was a good sized water puddle that had formed into the hallway. The gasket on the door was not correctly aligned causing steam to billow out. This has been fixed.
Staff should ensure that equipment is operating properly before leaving it. If there is a problem you need to attend to it.
