The steering committee for the new Prairie Crops and Soils Research Facility met yesterday with the team of architects. Mary Meleshko, Rob Duncan, and Yvonne Lawley, who are representing the Department on this committee, provided input on the Grain Processing Area. We have now been asked to privide input on a series of spaces including: Grain Drying, threshing, seed treatment, grinding, and medium-term sample storage. We are inviting techncians and professors that are currently involved with these activities to a meeting on Monday March 11th from 9:00-10:30 am in Rm 252 Agriculture (Dean's board room). At the meeting we will have the archetectural plans and will be asking for input on arrangement of equipment and workflow within these work spaces.
This meeting is called on short notice as the timeline for the archetechs has recently been moved up and we need to have input prior to the next advisory committee meeting on March 14th. It is great to see this planning process moving forward and taking shape. We appreciate those that have contributed their ideas and hope that some are able to join us for this next step in planning.
