On behalf of the WISDOM executive committee, please see below for information pertaining to the upcoming WISDOM logo competition.
Attention RFHS Students and Trainees:
The newly formed Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (RFHS) led initiative called Women in Science: Development, Outreach and Mentoring (WISDOM) is holding a logo design competition. WISDOM's mandate is to offer mentorship for trainees and early career women in science, foster connections through professional development and community partnered events and highlight the scientific achievements of women researchers.
Keep in mind, this logo must be inclusive to all genders and scientific disciplines (fundamental, biomedical and clinical research) and all five colleges in the RFHS represented in WISDOM.
Get creative and submit your designs to WISDOMMB(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:WISDOMMB@umanitoba.ca> by February 28th, 2019. A monetary prize will be awarded to the chosen logo design!

Dear Colleagues:
Recent events have called attention to increasing global political instability and the importance of safety during international travel. Following the recent advice of Foreign Affairs Minister Freeland, we want to advise that the university community follow Government of Canada travel advisories at all times.
As such, until more information is available, university-related student and staff travel to areas with changing travel advisories, such as China, is to be postponed. Faculty may wish to limit travel as well.
Our hope is that the situation will be resolved soon, and that this will not impact our many valued partnerships with Chinese institutions. If communications with partner institutions are required in order to explain why travel is being postponed, the International Centre<mailto:kennis.fung@umanitoba.ca?subject=Advice%20on%20communications%20with%20Chinese%20partners%20> is available to support.
We encourage faculty, staff and students to use the following resources for all travel:
* International SOS<http://umanitoba.ca/research/international_centre/emergency_contact.html> - This is University of Manitoba's first point of contact in an emergency and a valuable resource for pre-travel advice. It provides comprehensive medical and travel security assistance service. They are available 24/7, 365 days per year, and free to faculty, students, and staff. You can call our dedicated number<http://umanitoba.ca/research/international_centre/emergency_contact.html>, register online<http://umanitoba.ca/research/international_centre/emergency_contact.html> and/or request your free International SOS card from the International Centre<http://umanitoba.ca/research/international_centre/emergency_contact.html>.
* Registration of Canadians Abroad<https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/registration> - this is a free service that allows the Government of Canada to quickly locate you and provide support in case of an emergency abroad.
Sincere thanks.
