The Charge Ahead Mentorship Program has officially launched on the Bannatyne Campus!
This peer-led program provides an opportunity for Bannatyne learners to develop a personalized action plan for success and to get connected with support resources at the University of Manitoba. Charge Ahead mentoring is a great fit for any learners who seek to improve their academic success, work-life balance, and/or sense of community on campus. Appointments are held at Student Services at Bannatyne Campus/S211 Medical Services Building on Monday mornings from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Learners can book an appointment with a peer mentor by visiting the Charge Ahead website<https://umanitoba.ca/student-supports/academic-supports/charge-ahead> and clicking on 'Book a Consultation.'
Charge Ahead also offers a variety of workshops throughout the year -offerings are posted on their website.

The Centre on Aging offers four awards for students conducting aging related research at the University of Manitoba:
* Centre on Aging Betty Havens Memorial Graduate Fellowship ($2000*)
* Jack MacDonell Scholarship for Research on Aging ($4000*)
* Esther and Samuel Milmot Scholarship ($1000*)
* Dr. Barbara Payne Scholarship ($800*)
* The value of these awards is dependent on the available annual income of the fund. The amount listed is the minimum to expect.
In addition, the Centre adjudicates two awards on behalf of
* Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Graduate Student Fellowships ($4000, two awards available)
* University of Manitoba Retirees Association Scholarship ($1000)

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) from Singapore is providing funding to allow students from around the world to spend two months at NTU this summer.
About the program –
Who: Bachelor’s / Master’s students that are scheduled to graduate in 2025
When: Mid-May to mid-July (the timeline is NOT flexible)
What: conducting research at NTU, Singapore
How: interested applicants should email Kennis.Fung(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:Kennis.Fung@umanitoba.ca> to express their interest before applying online via the NTU portal by selecting up to three research projects from a list – select different faculty members may increase your chance of success
Visa: scholarship recipients will be given documentation which allows them to enter Singapore, and they will need to work with NTU’s International Office after they arrive in Singapore. They do NOT need to travel to another city to obtain a visa before leaving Canada.
Express your interest deadline: eligible students must email Kennis.Fung(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:Kennis.Fung@umanitoba.ca> on/before February 22, 2024 if they have the support from a U of M faculty member. The faculty member that supports the student’s application should be cc-ed. No documentation is required at this point.
Application deadline: March 1, 2024 (all students need to apply via the NTU online portal directly)
Result: no later than the end of March
Value: SGD5000, health insurance, and on-site accommodations at NTU
Number of awards: up to 40 globally
