Hello everyone, We hope your Fall term is going well! We wanted to check in and share some updates about upcoming meetings and professional development opportunities for this semester. A friendly reminder Our Go2Knowledge membership has been renewed through June 2026. To encourage participation, each completed Go2Knowledge webinar or UMAE meeting attendance will enter you into a draw for a UM Bookstore or Starbucks gift card. The first draw will take place on December 8, the last day of classes for the Fall term. Here is the log in information for Go2Knowledge again if anyone needs: Link: https://www.go2knowledge.org/umanitobaca. Once there, fill out your first name, last name, email address, and password, click on the I agree to the Terms & Conditions checkbox. Then click 'register'. Hello UMAE! Please see message below from Shanda Vitt from Student Accessibility Services. Please connect directly with her if you have any questions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi All, We have been hearing from students who are registered with SAS that advisors have mentioned they should have an advanced registration time. This is incorrect. Advanced registration is a very specific accommodation that is only available to a small percentage of SAS students, not available to all SAS students by default. Advanced registration is intended for students who are using SAS staff (ie: ASL interpreters, transcriptionists, academic attendants) to ensure we have more time to schedule, hire, and train staff. While there may be other circumstances to consider the accommodation, the student must discuss this with their SAS Accessibility Coordinator directly. If a student is asking about their registration date and discloses that they are an SAS student, please know that advanced registration dates have been applied to all who have the approved accommodation for it. If a student is unsure why they do not have it, please feel free to refer them back to us. Let me know if there are any questions! URGENT: Aurora/Banner Registration Issues

You may be receiving reports from students who are having difficulty registering in classes, and some staff are reporting difficulties using Banner. Yesterday afternoon (Tuesday July 8th), Aurora/Banner experienced a system issue that resulted in errors in registration and the system became inaccessible for a period of time. Our IST team and ORES monitored the situation last night and believed it had been resolved. Unfortunately, issues continue to persist this morning. These issues are the top priority for everyone supporting Aurora and Banner, so we hope to have a resolution as soon as possible. If you are receiving questions from students, please let them know we are experiencing a system issue and working to resolve it. Reading to Write Program July and August 2025

Hello UM advisors, The Academic Learning Centre is offering two sessions of the Reading to Write Program in July and August 2025. This university-prep online course helps students improve their academic reading and writing skills, understand university assignment expectations, and learn to use UMLearn and other UM resources. Students learn strategies for reading complex academic texts, complete basic academic writing tasks and receive feedback on their writing from Academic Learning Centre writing tutors. Reading to Write is short, free, and online and it is best suited for incoming UM students or those who have completed fewer than 60 credits. Aurora Modernization Project Updates for June 2025

Hello everyone, We want to provide you with an important update regarding the Launch Date of the Major, Minor, Declaration Workflow being developed as part of the Aurora Modernization Project. We continue working hard to provide students with a smooth and seamless experience. Given the complexity of this customization in Self-Service 8, we need a bit more time to achieve this goal. As such, the launch date for this Workflow will be pushed out to later this fall. In the meantime, students will continue using existing functionality in Self-Service 8 (Aurora Classic) to declare a Major, Minor or Concentration online. More information to follow on upcoming consultation sessions and demo of the new Workflow. A reminder that the online Major, Minor, Concentration declarations will open for students on Monday, June 9th.
