Student Academic History demo for UMAE
Hello Advisors,
Thank you to those who were able to join us yesterday for the Student Academic History demo. I'm not sure what happened to the recording, but this is the best summary I can come up with (AI generated, for full transparency).
Our colleagues in ORES also shared a document, linked below, which highlights changes. Michael Glucki has generously offered to create a short demo video for those who were unable to attend. Once ready, we'll share through this channel. These notes are in the UMAE MS Team, as will the recording, once completed.
Jan 27, 2026 Meeting Notes
The meeting provided advisors across UMAE with a demo of the new Student Academic History in Aurora. Although the session was mistakenly not recorded or actively engaged through chat with questions and feedback about the updated tools transcribed, participants.
Key Topics Discussed
1. Transcript & Registration History Updates
A document titled Advisor Transcripts and Registration History Changes February 2026https://umanitoba.sharepoint.com/:b:/r/sites/um-intranet-aurora-modernization-project/Shared%20Documents/Memo%27s/Advisor%20Transcripts%20and%20Registration%20History%20Changes%20February%202026.pdf?csf=1\&web=1\&e=PRvda1\&web=1\&EntityRepresentationId=a54d2c53-acc1-423e-a383-83a91d658a6d was shared to outline upcoming changes. Advisors asked about:
* Display of "Unofficial" watermark and whether it can be made lighter. * Whether unapplied courses, such as pending transfer credits, will appear (answer: Yes). * Ability to view transcripts in chronological vs. reverse chronological order - with the majority preferring reverse for advising convenience. There will be additional discussion around viewing order to obtain consensus. Only one op
2. System Functionality & Speed Concerns
Several participants expressed worry that the new system takes 20+ seconds to generate transcripts, significantly impacting workflows for advisors who review dozens of files at a time. Suggestions included performance improvements or additional tools to make batch review more efficient.
3. Technical Compatibility & Features
Questions covered:
* Mac compatibility of Argos reports/software (Yes, supported). * Whether registration history still links to course descriptions or instructor information. * Printing options (to printer or PDF) for new history and transcripts.
4. Student Contact Information Issues
Many advisors noted:
* Phone numbers sometimes missing from the student profile card. * Students may need to set a Primary phone number in their personal information. * Home address/email changes were discussed; SPAIDEN (for those with access) still displays more complete details.
5. Appreciation & Next Steps
Participants expressed thanks to presenters and acknowledged the helpfulness of the demo. Team members shared links to relevant resources, including the Aurora Modernization Project page.
