Hope you are doing well and enjoying the last few weeks before the start of the school year!

I am reaching out to share a couple of updates from the Undergraduate Admissions Office.

Over the past year, our office has been working on significant improvements to both our admission requirement pages and application portal. These changes are intended to provide a better experience for students while also improving our administrative processes for maintaining, updating, and ensuring consistency of information.

New Admission Requirement Portal

One of the changes is we have built a new admission requirement portal that will be embedded on our website. Using this new portal, students will be able to easily look up admission requirements by program and term, with a seamless transition from the requirements information directly into the application for the selected program.

The information displayed on the portal pages is being pulled directly from Slate. This allows us to use the same information and details throughout the admissions process, reducing duplication and ensuring greater consistency. It will also make it easier for us to maintain and manage admission requirements as changes are made through the Senate processes.

With this change, it is important to note that the current admission requirement pages on the Explore Drupal pages will no longer be used. We will keep the pages available for several weeks following the launch of the new portal but, they will eventually be removed.

If you have linked any materials or communications to your program specific requirement webpages, please redirect them to this general website page as that is where the new requirement look up portal will reside:

https://umanitoba.ca/explore/undergraduate-admissions/requirements

It is recommended to not link to the specific program once in the portal as they will be adjusted by term and year as we move forward.

New Applicant Application Portal in Slate

The second change, which will primarily benefit students, is our new application portal in the application system. The new portal has a much cleaner and more intuitive design and provides applicants with significantly more information throughout the application process.

Students will be able to more easily see their application status, required documentation, outstanding items, and next steps, providing greater transparency and guidance throughout the admissions process.

We are very excited to be rolling out these changes and believe they will provide a much-improved experience for applicants while also supporting more efficient and consistent admissions processes.
