Confirming your eligibility to register for Fall 2025 and Winter 2025 Courses
Have you confirmed your registration eligibility?
To find out when you can register, check your Registration Date and Time in Aurora. Your ability to register is dependent on:
* Your Registration Eligibilityhttps://umanitoba.ca/registrar/registration/steps-registration#registration-eligibility * Your 'On Hold'https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/holds-and-student-status status * Your assigned Registration Timehttps://umanitoba.ca/registrar/registration/steps-registration#registration-eligibility (viewable in Aurorahttps://aurora.umanitoba.ca/banprod/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin Friday, June 27)
To confirm your registration eligibility within your Aurora Account:
* Login to Aurorahttps://aurora.umanitoba.ca/banprod/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin * Locate the 'Registration' Card and select 'Open Registration Dashboard'. * From the registration landing page, select Prepare for Registration. * In the "Registration Status" section, you'll see the date and time when you can begin your registration, displayed in a blue box. It will be listed in MM/DD/YYYY format. * Make sure you have no holds on your account, that you meet your faculty requirements, and that your student status permits registration. A green check mark indicates you are eligible to register, while a red mark means there is an issue that needs to be addressed. If you see a red mark, you may need to resolve a hold or consult an academic advisor.

________________________________ Registration Reminders
Revision Period (Add and Drop period)
The registration revision period is considered the 'add and drop' period, where you can make changes to your course or timetable without academic or financial penalty. Courses dropped during this period are not recorded on official transcripts or student records, and tuition charges will be reversed for dropped courses.
During the registration revision period, you can:
* Add a new class if you changed your mind about your course subjects, or if a course that was previously full is now available. * Register in a course for which you were waitlisted if you receive notification that space is available. * Update your residency status in your Aurora account and receive a fee adjustment.*
Once the registration revision period ends, you can still Voluntarily Withdraw from a class, however, it will be recorded on your transcript, and you will not receive a tuition refund.
You can view the Fall and Winter Term dates and revision periods on the Important Dates and Deadlines pagehttps://umanitoba.ca/registrar/important-dates-deadlines.
* If you have recently become a Permanent Resident, or Canadian Citizen, then you can update your residency status and pay domestic tuition fees. Status updates received after the revision period will be accepted, but your fees will not be adjusted until the start of the next term. To update your status, please email the Registrar's Officemailto:Registrar.Office@umanitoba.ca?subject=Update%20Residency%20Status.
Registration Permissions
If you need permission to register for a course, contact your advising officehttps://umanitoba.ca/student-supports/academic-supports/academic-advising#find-your-specialized-advisor before your registration time to avoid registration errors and delays. This includes getting permission to register in mutually exclusive courses (mutually exclusive courses are courses that have overlapping content and CANNOT be held with one another). Contact your advising office if you plan to register in a course that is mutually exclusive to a course you already attempted. You will need permission even if you failed the course.
________________________________ Waitlists
Some courses will have a Waitlisthttps://umanitoba.ca/registrar/waitlist, allowing students to add themselves to the waitlist and be notified when a space becomes available. Notifications are delivered only to UM email addresses. Be sure to keep your email account activehttps://umanitoba.ca/registrar/student-email-policy and check your email often!
You should know that you will not be able to:
* register in a course and go on a waitlist for other section(s) of the same course * go on a waitlist for a course that has a time conflict with a course you are already registered in.
You must choose whether to register or go on a waitlist.
________________________________ Using Aurora
Aurora is UM's registration and student records system. You will be using Aurora to register for courses, view your academic standing and update your personal information.

________________________________ Student ID Cards
Photo ID cards are provided in-person at the Registrar's Office on the 4th floor of UMSU University Centre. You can get your card after you have registered, and you are encouraged to get your card before classes start to avoid long wait times!
* Hours of operation for Photo ID Cards are: * Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM * Wednesday 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM * To avoid spending time standing in a physical line, you will need to check in onlinehttps://3612.waitwell.ca/join/28 to get your spot in the queue. You will receive messages by text when it is your turn to come to the Registrar's Office. * Students who already have a Photo ID card do not need a new one each year/term. * Photo ID cards are required to obtain a U-Pass for Winnipeg Transit bus service. * More information about ID cards can be found on our websitehttps://umanitoba.ca/registrar/photo-id.
________________________________ Limited Access
Limited Access does not currently apply to students previously subject to this restriction for three consecutive terms.
You will be able to register to repeat a course (or equivalent) during your initial registration time, but you will see a warning that you have already taken the course. You do not need permission from your faculty to repeat a course.
