Teaching and course evaluations at the University of Manitoba are currently provided by a singular end of term student reflections on instructors and courses (SRI) instrument. Literature relating to the assessment of high-quality teaching and courses design continues to expand, including adopting assessment approaches that support contextually relevant models of teaching assessment.
Reflections by the Senate Committee on Instruction and Evaluation about SRI in the overall context of the UM Evaluation of Teaching Policy have provided an opportunity for a holistic review of current practices and needs regarding how high-quality teaching is defined and assessed at UM.
The Review Committee is now seeking broad input from the University of Manitoba community to generate feedback about qualities of high-quality teaching and identify possible methods of teaching assessment.
