The University of Manitoba Sustainability Strategy and You
On behalf of the University of Manitoba Sustainability Committee, we are very pleased to release a draft Sustainability Strategy for your consideration and comment. The release of this document marks a significant milestone in the university's efforts to improve sustainability and operate in a way that respects and supports our environment. In an effort to become a leader in this regard, the University of Manitoba Sustainability Committee has developed a comprehensive strategy that sets out a number of goals and actions with respect to campus operations, planning and community engagement.
Ideas and feedback received from the university community formed the foundation of this draft Sustainability Strategy and we greatly appreciate your continued support in this process. The Sustainability Committee and its working groups listened to your ideas and suggestions and integrated them into a draft strategy that reflects your priorities. The result is a plan of action that fosters a culture of sustainability at our institution and integrates sustainability planning and action into all of our functions. The draft strategy is the beginning of our institution's transformation into a more sustainable place in which to learn, work and play.
We strongly encourage you to participate in the many upcoming consultation opportunities that the committee is coordinating as we finalize this draft. Participation in the final consultation phase is critical to developing a Sustainability Strategy that is relevant and meaningful. We want you to have confidence in this strategy and to embrace its vision and goals.
