Multi-factor Authentication Mandatory for Students May 4
Multi-factor Authentication for Students May 4
Effective May 4, multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be mandatory for all University of Manitoba students.
IST anticipates an increase in requests for support leading up to the deadline. You are encouraged to enroll early, prior to your deadlinehttps://umanitoba.ca/multi-factor-authentication#getting-started to avoid any potential inconvenience.
You must enrol your account and add a device by the deadline to continue using a growing list of common UM applications. These include Microsoft365 (Outlook, Word, Excel etc.), UM Intranet, UM Zoom and Epic.
Failure to enrol by your deadline may result in your use of these applications being disrupted. Instructions on how to voluntarily enrol can be found on the MFA websitehttps://umanitoba.ca/multi-factor-authentication along with answers to common questions. The Service Desk will be providing increased support for MFA in anticipation of these changes.
Thank you in advance for your support of multi-factor authentication. Hundreds of user accounts are compromised at the University each year. MFA adds an extra layer of security to our university accounts to protect you, your data, and university systems from unauthorized access.
