Invitation to attend the Respectful Rematriation and Repatriation Apology on June 3

Good morning,
On June 3rd, on behalf of the University of Manitoba, I will publicly apologize for our history related to the inappropriate acquisition and housing of Indigenous ancestral remains, burial belongings, and cultural heritage without consent. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend this significant event to witness this apology and to learn about a new policy and procedures created to acknowledge this history; ensure that Respectful Rematriation and Repatriation are completed; and prevent against future acquisition, stewardship, or use of Indigenous ancestral remains, burial belongings, and cultural heritage at the university without consent. When: Monday, June 3, 2024 | 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. | Formal program begins at 2:30 p.m. | Feast to follow
