New Outlook authentication window coming tomorrow
New Outlook authentication window coming tomorrow
When you open Outlook on your computer tomorrow morning, you may see an Office 365 window asking you to enter your UM email address (john.smith@umanitoba.ca or UMnetID@umanitoba.ca) and password. The new window is a part of Microsoft’s Modern Authentication. Modern Authentication is a new, more secure way to log in to our systems. This change will apply to you if you are using one of the following applications: Outlook 2016 for Windows and later Outlook 2016 for Mac and later You will not see this change if you are using an older version of Outlook or another email client. After tomorrow’s update, you will be asked to log in again every 90 days. What does the new authentication window look like? The new authentication window looks very similar to the Microsoft 365 online login screen. You will be asked to enter your UM email address and password and click the ‘Sign in’ button.
