On behalf of the entire University of Manitoba community, I want to congratulate the bargaining teams for their successful efforts to reach a negotiated settlement ensuring no work stoppage or disruption to our 29,000 students.
The three-year agreement reached late last night resolves all major issues; remaining differences will be decided through an arbitration process. The agreement provides long-term stability and certainty that will allow us to focus on our core mission of learning, discovery and engagement.
I recognize that these negotiations created uncertainty among students and I want to thank them for their patience as we worked our way through the process. I also appreciate the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff and I am pleased we were able reach a fair settlement that demonstrates the flexibility of all parties and allows us to move forward in a spirit of mutual respect.
Sincerely, David
