
Yes, very surprising. He is staying on as Chairman and Director of the Board, so it looks as though he'll still have his hand in things; just not the day to day operations.
Guess we'll see how this plays-out over the next few months.

In typical Apple fashion only the bare facts are given. The
Chairman
position most likely means he will have a lot less to do and it will
likely be Board level affairs. We'll have to wait and see how he holds up over the next few months.
