I got tired of refusing 10.5.7 on my Mac that I decided to look at this. 10.5.7 includes an updated ATI Driver that affects 3D functionality in VMware fusion. This updated the driver is the problem with VMware Fusion.
Basically a Leopard and VMware Fusion user has three options if they are looking at updating to 10.5.7
1) Nvidia card? Great! Update no problems with VM Fusion. 2) Ati card? Hold off if you need 3d functionality 3) Ati card? Don't need 3d in VM Fusion? Update and disable 3d functions

This, too, should be tempered by the information that the 10.5.7 update addresses more than 40 areas of vulnerability which the US-CERT agency characterizes as "vulnerabilities which could allow an attacker access your data without your approval or cause your computer to crash."
This update address these vulnerabilities in applications such as Apache, CUPS, Flash player, IPSec, Kerberos, NTP, PHP, RUBY, and X11 world in addition to Apple's CoreGraphics, iChat, QuickDraw, and WebKit.

Just a word of caution, VMWare is reporting a problem between their "Fusion" product and the recently released Mac OS X 10.5.7 Update, specifically for Macintosh systems with ATI graphics chips.

Apple and VMWare are working together to correct the problem.
