Winter Term volunteer opportunity: Gain advocacy skills with PACA Support Circle!
by Anny Chen 09 Dec '24

09 Dec '24
Please share widely! PACA: Support Circle provides wrap-around supports for Lived Experience Educators who volunteer with Poverty Awareness & Community Action. Support Circle volunteers receive poverty awareness education and peer advocacy training, so that they can appropriately develop resources, provide advocacy support, and work with people who face poverty and other intersecting oppressions. This program is free and open to UM students and members of the wider community who want to learn how to work in good ways with low-income communities. UM students who successfully complete the program will receive recognition for Community Engaged Learning on their Experience Record. Visit the application form to learn more!<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=C92AT4wzTE6KFJBEaWL3uPJ…> Deadline to apply: January 6 -- Anny Chen (she/her) Lead, Community Engaged Learning Tel: 204-474-6992 anny.chen(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:marci.davies@umanitoba.ca> http://umanitoba.ca/community-engaged-learning Student Affairs – Leaders in cultivating exceptional student experiences! The University of Manitoba campuses are located on original lands of Anishinaabeg, Ininewuk, Anisininewuk, Dakota Oyate and Denesuline, and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. I am grateful to live and work in Treaty One Territory, and to have access to water from Shoal Lake #40 First Nation and hydroelectricity generated on the lands of many Indigenous communities in Northern Manitoba. As a descendant of refugees and immigrants who settled on Indigenous lands, I commit to challenging anti-Indigenous racism and supporting the work and leadership of Indigenous communities.
