You're Invited: Wednesday June 25th! SJH Online Event - I Want To Help But Don’t Know How
by Mir Tarannum 12 Jun '25

12 Jun '25
Hello everyone, This month’s Social Justice Hub Drop-in will be a digital problem-solving space for people wondering how to be an effective helper in times of crisis. “I want to help but don’t know how” is a common refrain. Come talk with peers and community organizers about core principles for getting involved for the first time and how make meaningful contributions to the community work you want to be a part of. Registration Link: https://forms.office.com/r/zrbB6biw0Y Topic: SHJ Drop In Event - I Want To Help But Don’t Know How Time: Jun 25, 2025 01:00 PM Winnipeg Join Zoom Meeting https://umanitoba.zoom.us/j/64950470042?pwd=af1ro8zkyMZLvUuUJosmlG8zsv3uWY.1 Meeting ID: 649 5047 0042 Passcode: 389868 Folks who don't register in advance are also welcome to drop-in! Some questions to consider in advance: * What has the response to wildfires displacing northern Indigenous communities in Manitoba shown us about the complexity of emergency response? * What are some ways volunteers can actually take away capacity from relief efforts? * What is the role of sustainable, ongoing relationships when responding to emergencies? * What are the skills and gifts you have to offer and what resources do you have access to? * How do you choose where to put your energy when everything feels important and everything is connected? This drop-in will aim to actually direct participants on how to get involved by making community connections and discuss how to do so in a good way. If you have any questions about the event, please don't hesitate to reach out!
